Chopta is often called the 'mini Switzerland of Uttarakhand', with rolling meadows and forests of rhododendron and oak. This weekend trip leaves Delhi by Tempo Traveller at night and reaches Chopta the next day, giving you time to rest and acclimatise.
The main trek climbs to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world and one of the Panch Kedar, then continues to the summit of Chandrashila for a 360° panorama of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba and Kedarnath peaks. On the last day you walk up to Deoria Tal, a calm lake that mirrors the Chaukhamba range, before driving back to Delhi.

Your day-by-day itinerary
01Day 1: Day 1: Depart Delhi at Night
Meet the group in Delhi around 9 PM and start the overnight drive to Chopta.
02Day 2: Day 2: Arrive in Chopta – Acclimatise
Reach Chopta, check in and rest. Short walk in the meadows in the evening. Overnight in Chopta.
03Day 3: Day 3: Tungnath and Chandrashila Trek
Trek to Tungnath temple and on to Chandrashila summit for Himalayan views. Descend to Chopta. Overnight in Chopta.
04Day 4: Day 4: Deoria Tal Trek – Drive to Delhi
Hike to Deoria Tal lake from Sari village, then start the drive back to Delhi.
05Day 5: Day 5: Arrive in Delhi
Reach Delhi in the early morning. Trip ends.
