When the plains swelter, Kashmir's valleys are cool, green and full of wildflowers. This summer holiday starts with a night aboard a carved-wood houseboat on Dal Lake, the perfect introduction to Srinagar.
You spend a relaxed day in Gulmarg with time for the cable car and pony rides across the meadows, then travel to Pahalgam past the ruins of the Avantipur temples. Pahalgam's Aru, Betaab and Chandanwari valleys are explored by local cab before returning to Srinagar. The last outing is to Sonmarg, where you ride up to the Thajiwas Glacier, still snowy in mid-summer.

Your day-by-day itinerary
01Day 1: Day 1: Arrive in Srinagar – Houseboat
Arrive and check in to a Dal Lake houseboat. Evening shikara ride. Overnight on the houseboat.
02Day 2: Day 2: Gulmarg Day
Drive to Gulmarg and enjoy the Gondola and meadows at leisure. Overnight in Gulmarg.
03Day 3: Day 3: Gulmarg to Pahalgam via Avantipur
Stop at the Avantipur ruins on the way to Pahalgam. Overnight in Pahalgam.
04Day 4: Day 4: Pahalgam Valleys – Srinagar
Aru, Betaab and Chandanwari by local cab, then back to Srinagar. Overnight in Srinagar.
05Day 5: Day 5: Sonmarg and Thajiwas Glacier
Day trip with a pony ride to the glacier. Overnight in Srinagar.
06Day 6: Day 6: Departure
Transfer to Srinagar airport.
