The highlight of this Kerala escape is a night on a kettuvallam – a traditional rice-barge houseboat – drifting through the Alleppey backwaters. Before that you head into the hills: two nights in Munnar for tea estates, waterfalls and Eravikulam National Park.

You then move to Thekkady, where you can walk through spice plantations or take a boat on Periyar Lake. On day four you board your houseboat in Alleppey for a slow cruise past villages, paddy fields and coconut groves, with meals freshly cooked on board, before your drop in Kochi the next day.

03Day 3: Day 3: Munnar to Thekkady

Drive to Thekkady for spice gardens and optional Periyar boating. Overnight in Thekkady.

04Day 4: Day 4: Thekkady to Alleppey – Houseboat

Board a houseboat for an overnight cruise on the backwaters. Overnight on the houseboat.

05Day 5: Day 5: Alleppey to Kochi

Disembark after breakfast and drive to Kochi for your drop.
