This trip pairs Nainital's lakes with the quiet hill village of Kausani, which Mahatma Gandhi called the 'Switzerland of India'. After driving from Delhi to Nainital, you spend a day touring Naini Lake, Bhimtal and Sattal.
Then you travel deeper into Kumaon to Kausani, where the sunrise lights up a long line of peaks including Trishul, Nanda Devi and Panchachuli. A day is set aside for the temples around Kausani – the Baijnath temple complex on the Gomti river, Bageshwar, Anasakti Ashram and a local tea estate – before the long drive back to Delhi.
