This group-friendly backpacking route enters Spiti from the Kinnaur side, which allows a gentle climb in altitude. An overnight Volvo takes you from Delhi to Shimla, where your Tempo Traveller picks you up for the drive to Chitkul, the last village on the Indo-Tibet road.

You spend time in Kalpa facing the Kinner Kailash range, then pass Nako Lake on the way to Tabo and its ancient monastery. In Spiti you visit Dhankar Monastery perched on a cliff, Key Monastery, Chicham bridge and the high villages of Langza, Komic and Hikkim. The return follows the same scenic road back to Kalpa and Shimla, with an overnight bus to Delhi.

Price on request. Pickup and drop: Delhi.
