This private road journey takes the gentler Kinnaur route into Spiti and back, giving plenty of time to acclimatise. From Chandigarh you climb to Narkanda among apple orchards, then follow the Sutlej and Baspa rivers to Sangla and Chitkul, the last village before Tibet.

The route continues past the confluence at Khab and the lake at Nako to the ancient Tabo Monastery, then up to Dhankar and Kaza. Two days around Kaza take in Key Monastery, Kibber, Chicham, Langza, Hikkim and Komic. On the way back you visit the 500-year-old natural mummy at Gue before overnighting in Kalpa and ending the trip in Shimla.

Price on request. Start: Chandigarh | End: Shimla.
