Entering Ladakh from the Kashmir side lets you acclimatise gradually while watching the landscape change from green valleys to high desert. After a night in Srinagar you drive past Sonmarg and over Zoji La to Drass, home of the Kargil War Memorial, and on to Kargil.
The next day's drive to Leh passes the Mulbekh Buddha, Fotu La and the moonland of Lamayuru. From Leh you cross Khardung La into Nubra Valley for two nights, including a day trip to the border village of Turtuk. You then follow the Shyok to Pangong Tso before returning over Chang La to Leh and flying home.

Arrive and check in. Evening shikara ride on Dal Lake (optional). Overnight in Srinagar.
02Day 2: Day 2: Srinagar to Kargil via Sonmarg and Drass
Drive past Sonmarg and over Zoji La, stopping at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass. Overnight in Kargil.
03Day 3: Day 3: Kargil to Leh
Drive via Mulbekh, Fotu La and Lamayuru to Leh. Overnight in Leh.
04Day 4: Day 4: Leh to Nubra via Khardung La
Cross Khardung La to Hunder and Diskit. Overnight in Nubra.
05Day 5: Day 5: Turtuk Day Trip
Visit the Balti village of Turtuk and return to Nubra. Overnight in Nubra.
06Day 6: Day 6: Nubra to Pangong
Drive along the Shyok river to Pangong Tso. Overnight at Pangong.
07Day 7: Day 7: Pangong to Leh via Chang La
Return to Leh over Chang La. Overnight in Leh.
08Day 8: Day 8: Fly Back from Leh
Transfer to Leh airport for your flight home.
