October to May: Dry Season (Best)
- October–November: the monsoon tails off; the islands are green and fresh. Occasional showers.
- December–February: peak season. Calm, clear seas and the most pleasant weather. Book early for Christmas and New Year.
- March–April: hottest and most humid, but the best underwater visibility for scuba and snorkelling.
- Early May: still good before the monsoon arrives.
Late May to September: Monsoon
The southwest monsoon brings heavy rain and rough seas. Some ferries are cancelled or delayed, water sports may be suspended, and beach time is limited. However, it is quiet, green and offers big discounts. Keep 1–2 buffer days in your plan if you travel now.
Best Time for Scuba Diving
November to April, with March–April offering the clearest water. Popular sites around Havelock include Nemo Reef, Lighthouse and Dixon's Pinnacle (for advanced divers).
