This is our most complete Azerbaijan route, taking in the capital, the Caucasus foothills and the north. After a city tour of Baku you head to Gabala for two nights, with a free day to enjoy its cable cars, lakes and forests.

From Gabala you visit Sheki's ornate Khan's Palace and old caravanserai before returning to Baku. The last excursion goes north to Quba, known for its handwoven carpets, apple orchards and the Red Settlement, Azerbaijan's historic Jewish village, with mountain scenery on the way.

Free day for cable cars, Nohur Lake or forest walks. Overnight in Gabala.

Day in Sheki for the Khan's Palace and caravanserai. Overnight as per itinerary.

Drive back to Baku. Overnight in Baku.
