This compact tour shows off Meghalaya's most memorable sights in five days. From Guwahati you drive straight to Cherrapunjee, passing Umiam Lake and Shillong's viewpoints.

Day two is for the trek to the Double Decker living root bridge at Nongriat, a natural wonder grown by the Khasi people over centuries. You then visit Mawlynnong, famous for its cleanliness, and spend a night by the clear Umngot river at Shnongpdeng. On the way to Shillong you explore the Jaintia Hills around Jowai, with stops at Krang Suri Falls and the Nartiang monoliths. The last morning takes you to Laitlum Grand Canyon before heading to Guwahati.

Your day-by-day itinerary

01Day 1: Day 1: Guwahati to Cherrapunjee

Arrive in Guwahati and drive to Cherrapunjee via Umiam Lake. Stop at viewpoints and waterfalls along the way. Overnight in Cherrapunjee.

02Day 2: Day 2: Double Decker Root Bridge Trek

Trek from Tyrna village down to the Double Decker living root bridge and the natural pools nearby. Return to the hotel. Overnight in Cherrapunjee.

03Day 3: Day 3: Cherrapunjee to Shnongpdeng via Mawlynnong

Visit Mawlynnong village and its living root bridge, then continue to Shnongpdeng on the Umngot river. Overnight in camp.

04Day 4: Day 4: Shnongpdeng to Shillong via Jowai

Drive through the Jaintia Hills to Jowai, visiting Krang Suri Falls and the Nartiang monoliths, then reach Shillong. Overnight in Shillong.

05Day 5: Day 5: Laitlum Canyon – Departure

Morning visit to Laitlum Grand Canyon, then drive to Guwahati for your onward journey.
