Mussoorie sits at about 2,000 m above Dehradun, with views of the Doon valley on one side and the snow peaks of the Garhwal Himalaya on the other. It is close enough to Delhi for a long weekend.
Things to Do
- Mall Road – the main promenade with shops, cafés and the Library Chowk end.
- Gun Hill – ride the ropeway for views over town and the Himalaya.
- Landour – the quieter cantonment above Mussoorie, with old churches, Char Dukan's pancakes and Ruskin Bond's neighbourhood. Walk the Chakkar loop.
- Lal Tibba – the highest point in Landour with telescopes for mountain views.
- Kempty Falls – about 15 km away; popular (and crowded) for a dip.
- Company Garden – flower gardens and a small lake.
- George Everest's House – a restored 19th-century house and observatory on Park Estate with a short walk to a panoramic ridge.
- Cloud's End – a forested viewpoint at the western edge.
